Gay Gay Gay!
I had fun at the Pride Parade marching with ACLU. I was totally jealous of the Entre Hermanos float though, who played all the latest Latin pop hits including my current fav. Tortura by Shakira.
Me and VAJ decided to get decked out of the parade. I made a satin equal sign colorguard flag, rented a scooter so as to not re-injure my ankle, and VAJ put together fabulous matching veils to advocate for marriage equality.
Then we paraded down Broadway chanting for equal rights.

How can two people with same gender marry? I'm still having trouble accepting the term "same sex marriage", but I advocate for the equal rights and equal treatment/benefits for domestic partners, (homo-genders or hetero-genders, my terminology), who are legally registered with the government as partners, just like married couples do.
defenitions:
"Marriage" = legal institution;
marriage = the religious union between 2 folks
1. The legal term "Domestic Partners" doesn't carry the same weight as the legal term "Marriage" meaning that if theoretically "Domestic Partnership" were to take on the same meaning as "Marriage" than it would mean a change in ANY RCW that uses "Marriage".
2. Marriage is really a religious institution, so if we truly wanted to be fair, no one would have gov. sanctioned marriage - ONLY "Domestic Partners" and everyone could get religiously married however they so pleased - letting their religious institutions decide on what moral standards they believe in, not the government, since church and state are supposed to be separate. However, since changing the definition of marriage is so difficult, see number 1.
3. There are so many reasons for "Marriage", why should love between 2 of the same sex not be one? Opposite-sex couples get "Married" for citizenship, tax breaks, benefits, convenience, rebellion, tradition, etc. sometimes in the absence of love. But there is nothing that bars that kind of union or legally distinguishes it as lesser. (except restrictions on immigration/citizenship? this I don't know about). So then why should same-sex couples have to have a lesser legal status based on their genitalia? As one gay marriage advocate put it, "Britney Spears can get married and divorced in a matter of hours. We just want the right to take advantage of marriage the same way straight people do."
