I'm sad

It looks like monorail is going to die in Seattle tonight and I hope it's not true - but optimism unfortunately won't change the vote.

How could they kill it when they've been collecting taxes for the monorail via car registration renewal? are they going to refund all that money that they have collected?

No refund. They need to keep collecting for another 2 years too because of debt.

Stupid because now that money really isn't going to be used. hmmph.

Pay debt for a project that never started? Sounds like the city had defrauded the residents of King county. I hope a lpeople file a class action lawsuit against the city.

dude that sucks. i was so looking forward to riding the monorail next time i came to visit. hasn't this shit been on the ballot for YEARS???

I want to kick Mayor Nickels in the face for killing the monorail. And yes, it has been on the ballot for years. I wonder what monorail proponents' next move is. I hope they don't quit - but I think the voters are getting monorail-vote-fatigue.
