Gold!

In my very short stint as a photojournalist at a local newspaper I got to use a press pass once. Mr. Soul Patch himself was the grand marshall of the Seafair parade so I was assigned to grab a few shots of him and the Chinese drill team. Like a good little photographer, I didn't want to let me stunted zoom get between me and a sweet shot of the strapping young speed skater.
After taking a few super boring shots of the Olympian from far away, I thought, "I got a press pass! I don't see no bodyguards!" so I dashed into the middle of the street where Ohno was drifting by in some fancy red car and snapped a few pictures, crouching down beside the car and taking some upward-aimed shots at him. I thought about it a second, then turned the camera around...

As I ran out of the middle of the parade back to the sidelines, some lady gave me a high-five and another exclaimed, "You go girl!" in the most genuine manner I may have ever heard. I think there also may have been applause.
Too bad I made that face.

P.S. Happy V day!

Dude, I'm jealous. Four years ago, I had the biggest crush on him!
