WHAAA????

What is this crazy shit?!

Oooh man, haha. I know colonization runs deep...but wow, how often do you see the most powerful nation in the world action like an internally colonized subject?
It's like, "Yay!!! Abusive Daddy is back!"
hahahahaha.
Sad thing is, I was trying to think of totally outrageous examples of how colonized peoples would welcome their colonizers back into their countries with open arms, but unfortunately they're not so outrageous. Does anyone have good links for that line? Cause I gotta go get my nightly Golden Girls fix. Oh man... runs so deep! Haha! I love me some old white women!

dot dot dot

Remember when I used to blog all the time?? That was when I didn't know the true meaning of non-profit work. haha. I'm not totally complaining, but still.

Honorable mention to some things that are on my mind:

1. I really want to get an intern. E-mail me if you're a student looking for experience but who doesn't necessarily need a paycheck.
2. My brother deserves a fabulous vacation, dammit!
3. Bottling up emotions when dealing with a drama-queen can just be self-preservation.
4. Lego Star Wars is teh bomb
5. Did you know that it's a crime to be trans? Obviously the other charges in this case are serious and criminal. But I sense just a little extra injustice. Just a little: "At the time, police did not pursue a rape charge because they were unaware Corpuz had been posing as a boy " - King5.
6. Today I was walking out of Blue C Sushi and overheard what looked like 2 white college chicks discussing power and privilege. Well, the one that was talking might have been a lighter skinned brown person, according to T. Still...Amazing.

I'm going away now. goodbye.

La Pulpería

First of all, I don't know what to say about the events at V. Tech. Obviously we are all wounded, so my prayers go out to the victims, their families, and us all - that we face this tragedy and deal with the inevitable issues that arise with wisdom, not ignorance and hate.

And now a post about octopus - I found these photos in my archives tonight and thought I'd share:

Of all the foods I ate in España, one of the ones I can't get over (mostly because I can't find it here) is the pulpo. I've been talking about this forever. If I remember right, the big pot on the right is used for boiling the pulpo whole and after a certain amount of time (maybe 45 min?) it is transferred to the one on the left.

Then the whole pulpo is taken out and a leg is cut off and sliced (or cut with scissors?) into discs and placed onto a small wooden plate/disc (pictured). The pulpo discs are surrounded by a circle of potatoes and all is sprinkled with salt, paprika, and olive oil, then served.

I took this picture after me and my compañera already ate some. I forget what the other dish was. The funny thing is that this La Pulpería was located in the middle of Spain.

That's not coastline to the west, that's Portugal! Hmm. They really care about their seafood I guess!
