I know, it's relative

I'm feeling contemplative. I decided that I'm going to start celebrating my birthday on the 1st of September and keep it going at least until my actual birthday if not 'till the end of this month.

I don't know what that means.

I believe it will be something along the lines of self-abasement, or perhaps self-empowerment. Right, two opposite things, I know. But the point is I need to push myself; to save money but still eat well, get in shape (I suppose), make more art, read more, and look into getting back into school.

Maybe I will look into the profer use of semicolons too... meh.

here's a list of things I want to do with my money
1. new tires
2. new apartment
3. trip to NY
4. new computer
5. suspension for my car

Yes, I really am that afraid of spiders

I re-arranged my room tonight and spend almost 50 dollars of money that I had intended to save for my new apartment on plastic crates to hide my clothes in. I don't know how I will get dressed tomorrow.

Did I say "payday?"

I meant, no sushi until I feel like it.
MUWAHAHA.

lunch: Mulitas from the taco bus, ikura, saba.

I know, I'm disgusting.

Sometimes when I find food inbetween my teeth I get it out then leave it on my tongue before swallowing it. That's usually if it's less than 10-20 min old. Disgusting, I know. But it gives me flashbacks to the meal I just had.

For example: while walking to my car I found a piece of Saba and it gently reminded me of the complete food coma lapse I had just experienced in the restaurant.
I think I love Blue C Sushi.

I cheated on Musashi today because those beautiful, wonderful people need to take a break sometime (but it doesn't mean I'm not hungry for sushi on Sundays and Mondays!). Blue C really does have fresh fish. Today I ate Ikura (I think the chefs are starting to recognize me because I got a HUGE mound of it today), salmon nigiri, a philly roll, hamachi, and saba. It was so good, but I dropped 20 bucks which is WAY more than I meant to spend. (I was actually going to go to Korean sushi to keep it cheap today, but they were closed too!)

Well, it was really good. The saba came right when I was thinking about ending my meal, so I had nothing left to switch flavors between. Saba is a really oily, fragrant fishy fish (a fish's fish!) so sometimes you need a break from it. If my cousin Lik had a bite of it, her throat would probably close up instantly - fish allergy. The saba was fresh, not pickled, and they were big pieces. I ate it and realized that saba has its own brand of food coma. It's like oil headache plus fish headache plus "my body is going to explode with sushi". Dammit, I thought I was gaining self control.

Anyway - no more sushi until payday.

commissioned

My bro commissioned me to make him some original art for his casita, so here's what I got so far. I haven't painted much before, so some of them are crappy. Chronological order:

*drool*

This is the camera I have except for with a Carl Zeiss Lens and a few more curves. I WANT IT. I love my camera, but it does need a better lens. Contax is like Cadillac.

ps: WHAAAT?!

Angst

Do you ever get that stupid feeling in your gut like THIS is what I want to do with my life and you feel really inspired, but then it goes away or you get distracted by your regular life and you just start feeling normal again...but then every time the feeling comes back you not only are anxious to do whatever it is you want to do with your life, but you also feel like a loser for not having done it before?
I feel this way about art and school and AES and Law and Grad and activism.

BEREAH.

Today I will look at an apartment for myself and for mimimi alone. I accept that fact that I will be poor again, but I am prepared and will stock my cupboards with top ramen as soon as time allows. ha! oh wait - I'm never going back to that again.

Anyway, Naoko, thanks for sending the pics! I love them. I wish this one had all of you in it. I can't wait 'till September when you get your Biffy box of fattening American candy and the scary Blythe book.

Here is a pic of me and 2 of my favorite people I met in Salamanca:

Sort-of Victorious

Well, I broke down and submit an application for the ACLU of WA position that I have been encouraged by hordes to apply for. (hordes = people that I told about the position and then hinted to that I needed encouragement in order to get my ass off the ground.)
And now my shoulders hurt from hours of ergonomically incorrect posture spent sitting in front of my beautiful, archaic laptop.

And now, ladies and gentlemen, I bring you - the moon.

Oh, and don't forget to check out the annual Perseids. I <3 shiny.

Another One

I'm having another one of those phases where I'm like "I don't have time for this blogging business!" so I may abandon you all with another "addicted to _____" post.
But then again, probably not.

Well, last weekend was Amira's wedding in Yachats, which was awesome. Ton and I hunted sea anemones in tidepools and took gratuitous pictures of each other as an excuse for why we dressed nice.
(Oh yeah, and we also saw a great RBF show before we left, sans Scott who is cute be cause he sticks his tummy out when he sings :( - see photoblog for pic.)

The next day was Amira's ceremony and reception which was nice, small, and personal. Amira totally wore pants and color (see photoblog!) and her outfit was tailored by her new husband. I hope no one thinks I stole her idea when I wear pants! But mine will be much more sailor-like. Also I will be wearing horizontal black and white stripes and an eye patch. DON'T STEAL MY IDEA.

Then the remaining class of 99 folks went out for a walk on the beach where we built a fire with teamwork.

OK, I get most of the credit for perservering, I suppose, but as a result of focusing too hard on lighting this driftlog on fire, I totally missed the half hour of clear sky to see the stars and watch for meteors. :( The little nerd girl inside of me is crying.

Hmm, so day 3 was spent stopping at every interesting place we drove past including all those Oregon coast towns and a few beaches. The best thing was the crab and shrimp omelette I ordered in Newport's historic bayfront. It was Boooomb! (make sure to sing that word.) Well, the other best thing was exploring with T. He's a fun one.

So now I'm back to my regular life - working hard trying to catch up on 2 missed days at work and trying to go to sleep early.

Obviously it's not working.
