Four day weekend and a belly to show for it.

Yeah - I think Thanksgiving makes me gain. That's probably a given, but only 2 days into this four day weekend and already I have to put a pair of jeans back in the fat drawer. haha.

I was almost motivated by the sunshine to go walking or running, but my exercise buddy hasn't called me yet. I suppose I could go without her.
It's only 3pm and it's already golden hour...if only I still cared about photography.

I'm sitting at Cupcake Royale, not eating a cupcake for probably the first time ever. There's a huge line that shortens just in time to let the people coming through the door in line. Some guy just offered to buy me coffee. There's also some colorful still lifes on the wall that are almost inspiring me to paint. I like this place. I tried to avoid it (and the cupcakes) by going to a cafe closer to my house, but they didn't have wireless internet!!! I don't know why that's not against the law yet.

Well - I obviously don't have anything profound to say, so I think I'll try to escape this place while I still can. Cupcakes are 2 bones and I only have Cupcake x $50 in my bank account. ha!
I guess I could get 50 cupcakes and call that breakfast/lunch/dinner, but something tells me that's unhealthy.

Belated Thanksgiving Wishes

Happy Thanksgiving everyone - almost too late.

Needless to say - I've been too busy to blog. :(
Work got crazy and now I'm relaxing at my bros place - eating at somewhat regular intervals (more then 3 times a day!) and watching cable and Star Wars.

yow!

So often applicable

"What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up
Like a raisin in the sun?

Or fester like a sore--
And then run?

Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.

Or does it explode?"

I'm sad

It looks like monorail is going to die in Seattle tonight and I hope it's not true - but optimism unfortunately won't change the vote.

huh?

What's is happening in France?!
Hm.
Well T's b-day was Saturday. We had some yummy Galerias and I went shopping for house stuff while he shopped with his parents. T got lots of new clothes that he can wear in his new job as a Civil Engineer I. hooray for new clothes, new job, and new life!

Slowly, my place is coming together. I now have curtains and a new sheet set and duvet. YAY! I just have to get rid of those damn boxes I was holding for my coworker that have turned soggy and gross and into an eyesore on my balcony that is bringing down the property value of the neighborhood. :(

Now all I need is internet - and possibly cable tv. One thing I missed by not having cable was all the new about Rosa Parks' death, which I feel horrible about not mentioning.

The day the news hit the papers I was returning to work at the conference downtown after my debilitating high fever. There was a general session going on and I insisted that someone mention her death from the podium. So I wrote up a little ditty to ease the process and then my CEO went up and said something in his own words, which was quite nice.
then.....
the white people started to sing We Shall Overcome. o.O

It was touching, but odd. I'll just leave it at that. touching. odd. good though. and eerie.

the moment of silence transformed into a smooth-sounding, muted choral rendition of an old negro spiritual

touchodding.
