A Change

I got sleepy around 10:00 today. Weird. I guess it was because I was watching Matrix Reloaded and knitting all afternoon, which is something I usually do later at night.
Well, my latest accomplishments:
Crocheted a grey mini-poncho/shawl
Super-fast knitted (almost complete!) aNOTHER scarf (green this time to match my purse)
Got a call to have a second meeting with someone and NWRPCA
Got a call from the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation!!!
Sleepy before midnight.
Haircut.

I think I like the haircut. It's sort of a return to short hair for me. My hairdresser seemed somewhat distracted because a customer called in all ornery and demanding.

Haircut was free.

I'm satisfied.

International Superstar!

My day got made the other day because I got an awesome package from my friend in Japan, and a postcard from B who is currently being an X-TREEME! adventurer in New Zealand.

I have been eating and eating all day for the past few days, thanks to that candy, and being unemployed. Time to go get some Indian food!

So Discouraged

Oh, just remembered that I have to meet up tomorrow with another hiring firm.
I'm so discouraged. I was hoping I'd be employed by the end of this week, but it doesn't look so good. I know it's only Monday, but I thought maybe Apple would call me this weekend or earlier. bah.
So, I don't qualify for unemployement benefits. I went on an interview at NWRPCA where I discovered that I really suck at Access. I thought it'd be easy to figure out like any other Office program, but it's weirder.
gah. I don't have any energy to write.

Interview City!

So I interviewed at Peng & Weber, but it wasn't really an interview. They tested my editing skills and typing and whatnot. I don't really think I'll get another interview. Well, maybe another interview, but I bet I won't get the job. The girl I'd be replacing was relatively young though. I am just worried that they don't want someone inexperienced, and I'm scared that I am too inexperienced.
On the other side, I'm going to Apple tomorrow for an interview where I hope to blow their socks off. Also, on Thursday I have the NWRPCA interview, where they say that I don't have to dress up, but of course, I will. All I can say is, I want a jobby job!
I hope I have a job by the end of this week. If not this week, then mid-week next week. week week week week week.

Just testing my photo-linking capabilities...

Lather, Rinse, Repeat

1. JOBBY JOBS
2. Marriage Equality

1. Went to Peng & Weber last Thursday to turn in my resume and cover letter. Made an appointment for a 1st screening (technical skills) that could very well lead to a formal interview. Today I made an appointment for an interview with the Northwest Regional Primary Care association. Apple interview Wednesday. heh.

2. Went to a marriage equality rally. There wasn't really a lot of people, but there was a pretty good line of speakers. I'd say a couple speakers too many though. meh. too lazy to write about it.

Track 2 "In Search of..." N*E*R*D

So I got a second interview with Apple and started my internship at the ACLU yesterday. Tomorrow is my first official day, when I get to watch a 1 hour video and try and work out my schedule. Yesterday I helped prepare for a committe hearing for HB 2062 which is to restore ex-felon's rights' to vote after completing all portions of their sentence excluding legal financial obligations. Funny, but right after that was the elections reform bill, which I have much more invested interest in, but didn't stay to hear. Can I please say, that adding another round of voter registrationg in between the primary and general election is ri-cock-ulous?! Having dealt with registration paperwork, I see no better way to roadblock people's right to vote in the general election and wider the margin of error that occurs between a voter's attempt to register and actually having their vote count.
OK, I'm not an expert. but all I hear is "Blah blah blah more paper work, more ways to scapegoat elections workers, larger margin of error, hinders the voting process blah blah"
*steps off the small soapbox*
what a fucking crock. I ain't saying the voting process is perfect, but please, red leaders, think before you act.
*takes the other foot off the soapbox*
*puts it back on*
okay, so shouldn't the parties be more concerned about rallying more votes in their direction????

I can't seem to focus, there was something really interesting I wanted to say that wasn't political too. I forget.
oh, so I went on an interview that my consultant helped me on. It was for a trucking company. With all respects to the trucking industry, I don't think I want my career to go there. I would be a good temporary employee, but I'd constantly be trying to escape and find my way into a law firm or into non-profits or school.
It sucks to be picky about jobs, but I don't want another 3 month gig on my resume. Unless it's Apple.

oh yeah, applied at NWRPCA today
